Dr. Minaglia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women's Health and a physician at the University of Hawaii Division of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery. He is ABOG-certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). Dr. Minaglia specializes in vaginal and laparoscopic surgical approaches to treat uterine and vaginal prolapse, as well as treatments for urinary and fecal incontinence. He is an experienced urogynecologic laparoscopist and minimally invasive urogynecologic surgeon. He is currently the Director of Robotic Surgery at the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, the official journal of the American Urogynecologic Society. He has served on the editorial staff for the journal since 2010.
He holds both B. A. and M. D. degrees from the University of Chicago, where his undergraduate major was in the History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Science and Medicine. He received special honors for his bachelor's thesis entitled, "Articulating a professional ethic for the treatment of patients with contagious diseases". He completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a 3-year ABOG-accredited fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Southern California where he received the Daniel R. Mishell, Jr., MD resident teaching award. More recently, he received the Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Hawaii.
Dr. Minaglia is an internationally recognized speaker on the topic of pelvic floor disorders in women and has addressed such diverse audiences as universities, medical societies, hospital administrations, and patient advocacy groups. His writing and research appears in numerous publications including Journal of FPMRS, Obstetrics and Gynecology, The American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, The International Urogynecology Journal, The Journal of Reproductive Medicine, and the American Urogynecologic Society’s Literature Reviews.
